One must be careful while poking the cosmic bear, else one risks receiving a cosmic slap. And let me tell you... Nothing hurts as much as a cosmic slap. It's one thing to be slapped by another person or a real bear, it's something entirely different when the universe punishes you for your hubris. Physical pain you can endure, but cosmic pain, is unBEARable. And yet we must always be poking the cosmic bear for the thrill of testing its limits.

About the company

Cosmic Bear Game Studios is an indie game studio based in Sofia, Bulgaria. This website was first released June 2020.

Right now, the company is mostly me (the guy below). Will definitely update this page if I gather a team.

About myself

My name is Blagoslav Mihaylov, but people call me Blago. A couple of years ago I got my degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sheffield. While my background so far is mostly technical, the field of AI instilled in me a newfound appreciation for humanity, human intelligence and the incredible complexity of the social systems we form.

My skill set is mainly in coding. Recently I have taken up the challenge of making indie games. Let's see how it goes.

Games are an artform

While some may say that every human activity can be practised as an art, I think games specifically are a very significant form of art. All art is fundamentally a way to express complex human emotions or concepts. But in almost every form of artistic expression the artifact is only meant to be passively observed.

With games, on the other hand, you express a system of rules, which your player interacts with. By responding to your player's actions, you can craft an experience not achievable through passive observation. Most art turns the beholder into a passive object, being acted upon by the artist, but games ask the player to join them in the process of artistic creation.

Kinds of games I plan to make

My first project (CITIZEN) explores the feeling of frustration felt by the citizens of a democratic society in the face of corporate power.

My next projects would not be fixed to the same theme or gameplay. For my first game, I chose a more simplistic gameplay concept (punching and shooting), but for my next titles, I might create something more along the lines of RPG or simulation.

Why Cosmic Bear?

I just thought it sounds cool. Bears are magnificent creatures. While they are very dangerous, most species of bears don't actively try to hurt humans. They become aggressive only when provoked. Imagine the cosmos itself as a bear, indifferent to humans, yet vicious when challenged.
